K.T.S . TULSI INTRODUCES BILL TO MAKE RAPE LAWS GENDER NEUTRAL
On 12.7.2019 Rajya Sabha MP K T S Tulsi introduced a private member bill for amendments to the Indian Penal Code Code of Criminal Procedure and Insian Evidence Act.
Highlighting the need for gender neutral provision in existing laws related to sexual offences against women and the need to extend protection to not only men but transgender persons and those with different sexual oorientations.
This bill is an endeavour to bring laws relating to sexual exploitation, harassments and assault to be instep with changing social morality. The lack of acknowledgment of male rape has impacted the ability of victims to recognise their own victimisation.
